Lauren Ivey

Development

Lauren joins the WUDL team with 9 years experience in education and 3 years in non-profit development. She taught refugee and immigrant students as an English as a Second Language educator in Georgia and Alabama, helping children be successful in our culture while honoring their home languages. She has also served in fundraising roles for non-profits, including Habitat for Humanity and a variety of educational organizations, writing grants and literature reviews, planning events, performing prospect research, implementing capital campaigns and utilizing donor databases to track funds and send out marketing materials.

Lauren has a passion for diversity and inclusion and believes that all students have a right to an equitable education. She desires to affect change with her career and values close relationships with those that feel the same. She believes in advocating for small, diverse communities of color, not through assimilation, but in everyone bringing their own individual experiences, creating a melting pot of culture.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Urban and Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. In her spare time, she likes to read, crochet and spend time in nature with her vinyl-loving husband and cherished dog, Ringo.
