Coaching Overview

Coaching Debate is an incredibly rewarding experience that facilitates your students social-emotional and academic growth. Coaching Debate creates new avenues to build relationships with your students and brings together a unique intellectual community in your school.

Coaching debate on top of everything else may seem difficult, but we’ve made coaching a light lift that’s well worth the effort.

WUDL staff exists solely to make coaching a breeze. We also offer a stipend to coaches who meet basic engagement criteria.

As part of the national urban debate community, we frequently collaborate with other leagues and learn from their experience. All of our coaching strategies, curricula, and sample practices are derived from the best practices of coaches around the nation, or are based in the peer-reviewed research about debate.
