As we prepare to kick off the new academic season (school started in most places today!), we are excited to announce some new members of the WUDL team for the coming year!

Dimetri O’Brien is a native of Trinidad & Tobago with roots in Jackson, MS. He is an alumni of the Atlanta Urban Debate league as well as former policy debater by way of Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia, GA. He has been volunteering with WUDL since 2017 as a judge. Dimetri’s brings his professional skills of creating medical and health interventions for audiences ages 18-29 which includes social media curation, brand identity design, content creation and creating print collateral. In his spare time he enjoys reading, traveling, & trying new food!

Summerly Sherlock joins the WUDL team with nine years of experience in communications, with expertise in digital content, implementing website and email content strategies, social media management, and analysis of communication initiatives.

A combination of education, collaboration, and public policy, Summerly believes, are fundamental building blocks to students’ critical thinking and relationship building. She hopes to further the mission of WUDL by sharing the significant milestones of the students and advocating for the importance of urban debate in education. In addition, in supporting WUDL communications efforts, she has spent many years in higher education communications and volunteering as a planning and zoning commissioner in her local government.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of South Florida and a Master of Public Policy and Administration from Mississippi State University. Summerly loves to cook, hike at local state parks,  garden in the backyard with chickens, and spend time with family and friends.
