JV/Varsity Disclosure

Better debate occurs when teams disclose what arguments they are going to make, at least the broad strokes, ahead of time. The goal of this process is to improve the level of debate and the level of clash in the Varsity Division through disclosure of previously used arguments. The Case List allow significantly more efficient and effective preparation for tournaments, and deeper debates decided on substance instead of surprise. WUDL Teams disclose those arguments via the form below.

Teams are required to maintain and update a caselist entry. Updates should occur the week following a tournament where a new affirmative or off case position is used, or “broken.”

Teams must update their disclosure by 11:59 PM on Sunday, six days before the tournament.

It is the obligation of a debater to be able to present the context of the evidence they read, allowing the other team a chance to analyze that evidence.

If you are using a core file, everyone has access to those, so there isn’t need to share your evidence. If you have done original research, create an email chain or use SpeechDrop to share it with the other team before you speak.
