Washington Urban Debate has a good problem – we don’t all fit in the same building anymore! 

As a result, each school are (updated, 2026-2027) assigned to a conference (see list below). The “American League” and the “National League” will have the same number of tournaments, the same number of rounds, the same judge pool, and the same tasty food. We’re hosting more events, but your team’s schedule won’t get any bigger. 

Tournaments throughout the season will rotate around the region so folks don’t have to travel too far all the time. Varsity debaters are encouraged to volunteer as judges in the opposing conference to get service hours and continue to hone their craft as debaters.
